Name: Global Distribution of Sea Turtle Feeding Sites (1999)

Display Field: name2

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Sea turtles are air-breathing reptiles spending most of their lives at sea. All sea turtle species lay their eggs on land, typically on sandy beaches. Sea turtles may migrate hundreds or even thousands of kilometres between established feeding and breeding sites. This legacy dataset is no longer being maintained and must be used with caution. As the dataset contains overlapping polygons, a dissolve operation (within a GIS) might be needed before surface area calculations are carried out. The global IUCN Red List threat status may differ at the regional-level.
