Service Description: Depletion
of the water asset is defined in this analysis as a reduction in the quantity
and/or quality of freshwater resources. Such degradation can adversely affect
ecosystem services such as water purification, water flow regulation and
climate regulation. This assessment used datasets capturing lake water quality,
specifically turbidity and the trophic state index, as well as a dataset
measuring changes in water extent (fraction of water loss) to identify areas
where water assets are under pressure.
Changes
were analyzed for the period 2016–2020.
Download the
guidance documentation here for more information on the methodology, intended use cases and limitations.
