Hotspots of stock depletion for both natural capital assets (sea surface temperature and\neutrophication<\/span>) were identified by extracting the 20% of grid cells\nwith the highest depletion values from each individual asset layer. The\ncombined map of marine depletion was created by overlaying the two natural\ncapital asset hotspot layers, and summing for each grid cell how many asset\nhotspots are present, to obtain a value between 0 (the area was not a hotspot\nof depletion for any asset) to two (the area was a hotspot of depletion for both\nassets).<\/p>
